Planning for business success is far easier if it is proactive
Planning has its place in business. The challenge is to work out how much time to dedicate to it. Some businesses spend too much time planning and, as a result, inhibit their ability to take action. Others ‘shoot from the hip’ and suffer the consequences. An organisation’s planning requirements depend on the style of its leader, the culture of the organisation and market conditions amongst others. Not all organisations need to use the same planning process or methodology.
I focus on planning that enables results. Sometimes a strategic plan written on a table napkin will suffice; an organisation can be restructured on the inside of a restaurant’s menu. For others, a lengthy and detailed process is required. A plan needs to be an enabler. It is to be a living concept that can be measured against. I offer:
- Strategic planning facilitation
- Annual/business planning facilitation
- Project management review
- Critique of existing plans
- Evaluation of planning methodology
