Facilitation helps give perspective to business decisions

Facilitation helps give perspective to business decisions

WHAT IS FACILITATION?

Facilitation is getting parties to find common ground - or to agree to disagree. It brings with it a process to achieve outcomes. It allows participants to fully participate, without having to be involved in running a meeting or event.

Robust, rigorous facilitation needs an ability to challenge, gain buy-in and commitment that delivers results. I pride myself on creating a challenging and stimulating environment, not being seduced by power plays or hidden agendas. I facilitate strategic planning sessions, meetings, project management reviews and retreats and run team building and culture change sessions as well as issue resolution processes.

Understanding the complexity of human behaviour, I identify barriers within the organisation that inhibit progress and develop plans to overcome them.

If your sessions are lack-lustre, tail chasing, or lacking a conclusion and action plan, give me a call.  I'll hold your feet to the fire!

STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSIONS

Facilitated sessions can help build a Strategic Plan or critique an existing one. An external facilitator offers objectivity and keeps the process moving.  Too many sessions get caught up in either lofty ideals or nitty gritty detail whereas what is often required is a pathway from the Vision to the Deliverables.

MEETING FACILITATION

As a general rule, business meetings are poorly run, go on too long and lack clear action plans. A facilitator can identify why your current meetings are inefficient and ineffective and assist in making them productive.  Learn from participating in a well structured and facilitated meeting, then take over yourself.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Members of a project management team often become engrossed in individual project responsibilities and therefore lose focus on the whole project. A facilitated session with the project management team will refocus members on the project objective and re-establish key milestones and timelines.  This allows all team members to be present, and hold those to account who try to hijack the process.

RETREATS / TEAM BUILDING

An external facilitator allows all team members to participate in the activity rather than some also trying to ‘run the show’. I utilise  a wide range of activities that develop positive teams. I blend my experiences of participating in business winning teams and personal experience of being part of a national sports team to give relevance.

CULTURE CHANGE / ISSUE RESOLUTION

An independent facilitator allows senior management and others to participate in projects involving culture change. I have found that those who drive change from an internal perspective often hinder change.
